PRESS RELEASE

At 3:30pm today, March 8, 2010, the Prime Minister, Prof. Apollo Nsibambi was involved in an accident when the police helicopter on which he was travelling developed a mechanical problem and was forced to make emergency landing in Bugiri District.

He was returning from Lwakhakha border after a ceremony where he received relief items worth 13.5 Kenya shillings from the Kenyan government for Bududa the Bududa Mud Slide victims.

The helicopter crash landed and hit a tree around Bugiri hospital. The Prime Minister and other occupants who included, the Permanent Secretary Pius Bigirimana, two press people, the ADC to the Prime Minister, Mr. Isabirye, the pilot and co-pilot were temporarily admitted at Bugiri hospital.

His Excellency the President has dispatched his chopper to evacuate them and they are out of danger.
