Former Agriculture Minister, Canon Justus Muheru Byagagaire has died at the age of almost 91 years. He passed on over the weekend at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala where he had been undergoing hospitalization.
President Yoweri Museveni visited the family of the late Byagagaire at their Kampala home in Bunga-Soya near Munyonyo, yesterday to eulogize the late Byagagaire.
Mr. Museveni described the late Byagagaire as a great Ugandan, an elder and a committed nationalist who served the country in different capacities, including having been a Permanent Secretary, Minister for Agriculture, Labour and the first African Head of Public Service.
Canon Byagagaire, who served as an Agriculture Minister and later that of Labour between 1971 and 1977, is the father to Dr. Sam Byagagaire, a Special Presidential Assistant on Veterinary Affairs.

The late Byagagaire is to be laid to rest at Ruharo in Mbarara district on Thursday 8th August after prayers at All Saints Cathedral, Nakasero in Kampala.
