Security Minister Calls upon RDCs to Take Security Matters Seriously

On Thursday, 21, February,

The Minister for Security, Gen. Elly Tumwine addressed Resident District Commissioners (RDCs ) and their Deputies who are on a week’s retreat at National Leadership Institute- Kyankwanzi, He urged them to be more vigilant with security matters by interacting more with all sections of the public including religious leaders, traditional leaders, doctors, media, farmers and those in the market place.

He emphasized that the RDCs must teach people to take care of their own security because security starts with an individual. “Don’t just make desk reports, visit people, talk to them and create networks. The people are the ones who will give you useful security information,” said Gen. Tumwine.

Gen. Tumwine also asked RDCs and DRDs to hold daily security meetings and send him reports because security matters happen every day.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of State for Ethics and Integrity, Fr. Simon Lokodo who called upon RDCS and DRDCs to shun and fight corruption and promote culture.

Other Topics discussed were budget monitoring, Accountability, EAC integration affairs, monitoring the manifesto and patriotism.
