STATE HOUSE, ENTEBBE: President Yoweri Museveni has today received the new envoys of Rwanda, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe to Uganda who presented their credentials to him at a scientific  ceremony held at State House Entebbe.

The President welcomed the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Uganda Retired Colonel Joseph Rutabana and congratulated him upon the appointment. 

“Uganda and Rwanda share many things in common; social, economic and cultural norms including dielectric. You are welcome,” he said. 

The President also received credentials from the new High Commissioner of the Republic of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Uganda H.E Valuppillai Kananathan. 

President Museveni noted that Sri Lanka has extensively invested in Uganda.

”We have got some good investment from Sri Lanka like the hydro power stations constructed on rivers; Mpaga in Bunyoro, Sipi falls in Kapchorwa, Maziba dam in Kabale, Kiruruma and Nyamugesani in Bwera, Kasese district,” he said. The two leaders agreed to boost the bilateral relationships between their two sister countries.

President Museveni also received credentials from the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Zimbabwe to Uganda, Mrs. Winpeg Moyo who pledged to play a pivotal role in strengthening bilateral relations between the two sister countries. 

“Zimbabwe is trying to stabilise. We no longer want to suffer, working for political populism,” she said and urged President Museveni to continue supporting their country. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Sam Kutesa and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Patrick Mugoya attended the ceremonies.
