UN Congratulates President Museveni on Inauguration

STATE HOUSE: The United Nations Secretary General Antonia Guterres has congratulated President Yoweri Museveni on his inauguration as President of the Republic of Uganda due tomorrow.

“It is my sincere hope that the close collaboration between the United Nations and Uganda will continue to be strengthened, including on issues related to regional peace and security as well as refugees, as Uganda continues to be the largest refugee-hosting country in Africa.

The Secretary General said the United Nations will continue to support the commendable efforts of Uganda aimed at achieving the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

“Let me also take this opportunity to reiterate the commitment of the United Nations to continue to support the commendable efforts of Uganda aimed at achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” he said.

President Museveni will be sworn in tomorrow May 12 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds after winning the January general elections with 5,851,037 votes, representing 58.64% of the 9,978,093 valid votes. 12 Heads of State have confirmed attendance while several countries will be represented at the Vice president, Prime Minister and Ministers of Foreign Affairs level.
