UPDF Pensions and Gratuity Chieftancy Commended For Serving Veterans.

 The Director of Veteran Affairs (DVA) Brig (Rtd) Emmanuel Musinguzi has commended the Officers and men under the Chieftaincy of Pension and Gratuity (COPG) for the job well done towards developing of the chieftaincy to the heights it has attained.

 Brig (Rtd) Emmanuel Musinguzi said this while closing a 2 days’ workshop for both Uniformed and Civilian Staff under COPG at UPDF General headquarters at Mbuya hill.

 The workshop running under the theme: "Mind set change for better Service delivery”, is aimed at coming up with workable methods that will smoothen the work flow of the chieftaincy.

 The Director recapped to the staff to know where the chieftaincy has come from and serve the veterans with pride. Always take the chances to improve your work and avoid things that will jeopardize the image of the chieftaincy and the entire ministry at large.

Always serve and treat the veterans the way they would wish to be served when you retire and build a team that is dependable putting in mind the key points of service as : 

a.Service quality 

b.Staff engagement and 

c.Always taking lessons from previous experiences.

 

The UPDF Chief of Pensions and Gratuity (COPG) Col Kefa Nangeso also applauded officers and men of UPDF under his docket for their tireless efforts towards developing and running of the chieftaincy amidst diverse backgrounds of their own and that of their clientele in order to serve veterans. 

 

The chief reminded the participants that training is part of the modern world; "this is timely and necessary; keep learning and skilling others with new ideas for the betterment of our duties, it is how the modern world operates, he added".

 

Col Kefa called upon the participants to share experiences, brain storm, discover new ideas as it will help the UPDF leadership know where to tackle to help serve the veterans better.

In the same vain, he urged participants to work harder putting in mind that COPG is not a commercial entity but rather a service chieftaincy aiming providing effective service to the veterans and survivors of fallen comrades. He also called upon participants to be conscious to the fact that there is payment deficit that have to be cleared. 

The Chief called upon the entire team to avoid things going wrong by quoting Matthew's law “Things would go wrong at the wrong time”. He thus asked participating officers to pull up their socks and do things in the right way in order to clear the pending backlog of unpaid UPDF veterans." Don't wait for super experts to do your work. Put yourself in the Veteran’s shoes and serve them with pride and empathy. The veterans we serve sacrificed for the country, so we should handle them with care and humor, because without the veterans there is no work for the chieftacy. Col Nangeso advised.

The opening function was also attended by  the Deputy Chief of Pensions and Gratuity Lt Col Deborah Nayebare,  Commisioner resettlement psychosocial Support and rehabilitation Mr Mabonga Mike Mr. Kiwumulo Mbabali Ronnie the Program Officer Civil Service College Uganda among others.
