PRESIDENT MUSEVENI INJECTS SHS 150 MILLION IN VENDORS AND YOUTH SACCOS

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday 22nd September, 2025 injected a total of Shs150 million in youth and vendors’ SACCOs in Kampala.
The package was delivered by Mr. Moses Byaruhanga, the Senior Presidential advisor on Political Mobilisation during a meeting at Okello House, Nakasero.
The SACCOs which benefited include the Kawempe Youth Council Leaders Coalition which received Shs 50m, Makindye Youth Leaders which received Shs 50m, Makerere Tukolere Wamu Group which received Shs 5m, Katanga Book Makers which received Shs15m, Kalerwe Women Market Vendors which received Shs20m and Kalerwe Street Vendors SACCO which received Shs10m.
Mr. Byaruhanga explained that the government has so far given out Shs 20 billion to Myoogas around Kampala which included the youth, mechanics, vendors, tailors, among others but this money wasn’t utilized well.
“I sent a team for investigations, and it revealed that out of the 516 myoogas, only 300 were functional,” he added.
He encouraged the youth and vendors to work together and assured them that the President put up these programs to basically reach out to low-income earners so that they can be empowered economically and fight poverty.
According to Mr. Byaruhanga, several leaders have failed to monitor government programs like emyooga and PDM which has led to ineffectiveness.
“When we give money, especially that sent to SACCOs, leaders receive it and don’t inform the rest, so that's why I called you here to witness this,” he said.
Mr. Byaruhanga further assured beneficiaries that once they utilise the funds well, the government will put more money into their SACCOs.
“This money is not a lot, it is just start-up capital but utilize it well, the government is here to economically empower you”, he said.
In his concluding remarks, he urged the beneficiaries to support President Museveni come 2026 elections.
The Lord Councillor of Kawempe South, Mr.Ali Musa Segane thanked President Museveni for supporting the youth and vendors.
Haji Hasan Ssempala, the Chairman Katanga Book Makers also thanked President Museveni for the empowerment program.
“I want to thank you. Before we came here in the morning, I received a message for the money you promised us on the SACCO account and I can testify that we got the money,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by the leadership and members of the SACCOs, among others.
