Five new Envoys Present credentials to President Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has received credentials of 5 newly appointed Ambassadors to Uganda.

During the separate ceremonies that took place today in the afternoon at State House, Entebbe, envoys from Iceland, South Korea, Turkey, the UN and Finland presented their letters of credence witnessed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sam Kuteesa and a number of officials from the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Arua suspects Charged of Abuse of office, Conspiracy to Defraud

The State Prosecutor, Alice Kyomuhangi, has charged Mr. Kasajja Jamirlu Kairu, former Town Clerk of Arua Municipal Council and Erejo Kamil Rajab, Principal Treasurer of Arua Municipality, with abuse of office, diversion of public resources and conspiracy to defraud. Mr. Kasajja Mamirlu Kairu is currently Town Clerk Kapchorwa Municipal Council.

The charges were preferred on the two officials this morning by the Grade One Magistrate of the Anti-Corruption Unit Court in at Kololo in Kampala by Mr Moses Nabendo. 

“Acquire skills to Diagnose Correctly societal Challenges”

President Yoweri Museveni has urged leaders at all levels to equip themselves with skills that will help them go a long way in diagnosing correctly society’s challenges.

“It is crucial that you leaders know what you are doing because if you don’t know, you will bring a case to yourselves. Leadership is not like a cold that you catch leadership skills. You have to prepare yourself,” he said.

Political Leaders advised on Prioritization

CHOBE, NWOYA: President Yoweri Museveni who is also the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement today opened the 5 day retreat of the Central Executive Committee of the National Resistance Movement, highlighting governments’ major achievements in infrastructure development and service delivery and emphasizing that the weakest point now is economic empowerment of the 68% of the population who rely on susbsitance agriculture mainly in the rural areas.

President Museveni Eulogizes former Busoga Bishop Bamwoze

President Yoweri Museveni has eulogised the late Bishop Emeritus Cyprian Bamwoze, former Bishop of Busoga Diocese describing him as a person who had respect for religion right from his youthful life. 

‘’I thought I should locate time to come to give testimony about what I know about the late Bishop Bamwoze. This is very important because old men have become scarce. I feel pity when I see the young generation without information,” he said.

President meets High Command

 

President Yoweri Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief of the Uganda armed forces has met with the UPDF High Command in a meeting that took place at State House Entebbe yesterday.

The High Command, which is the top decision-making organ of the UPDF, discussed among other things the security situation in the country and expressed satisfaction with the prevailing security in the country.

President Museveni meets UN Leaders, discuss security, UN Base

ADDIS ABABA. President Museveni has today (Sunday) met top United Nations Chiefs, discussing with them a range of issues on regional security, human rights and the fate of the UN base in Entebbe.

The meeting with the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, happened on the side-lines of the on-going 32nd Ordinary Summit of the African Union Heads of State in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“Let us not Repeat Mistakes of Past Leaders” – President Museveni warns Africa

Addis Ababa – Whereas African leaders of old made mistakes that led to the colonization of the continent and enabled slave trade to thrive, contemporary leaders must ensure these failings do not reoccur, President Museveni has said.

The President was today (Monday) addressing a breakfast meeting as the African Union marked the 400th anniversary of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. 

Regional peace will be strengthened, President assures EU

 

ADDIS ABABA. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has assured the European Union (EU) that peace in the entire East African region will prevail as member countries’ leadership continues to strengthen their working relationship. 

‘’Peace in the region is getting better. Part of the problem in the region; South Sudan, Burundi was because we have not been working together. That was the source of the problem’’, he said.
